APPOINTMENTS

All appointments with Dr Paffen or our Registrar (available to public patients) require a valid referral.

GP referrals are valid for 12 months and Specialist referrals are valid for 3 months.

If you are a new patient, please ensure you or your doctor has sent us your referral to be reviewed for urgency. We will then contact you to make an appointment. Referrals can be sent by email, fax, post or via your doctors’ secure messaging software. Our contact details are listed below.

FEES

Consultations:

Border Urology is a private practice. Consultation fees are payable on the day of your appointment. A Medicare rebate is available to patients with a valid referral and Medicare card. Our fee structure follows the recommended guidelines set out by the Australian Medical Association.

​Initial Consultation: $210.00
Follow Up Consultation: $130.00
​Telephone Consultation – Follow up only: $90.00
Note: Telehealth is only available at the doctors discretion.

Additional Fees may apply for Uroflow tests, Bladder scans, Catheter changes and Injections.

Private Hospital:

Dr Paffen operates privately at the Albury Wodonga Private Hospital

Dr Paffen has ‘Known Gap’ arrangements in place with most health funds to help provide clarity around your out of pocket costs. Our friendly staff will discuss informed financial consent prior to scheduling your procedure. We strongly recommend you check with your health fund to establish whether other costs may apply.

Public Hospital:

Dr Paffen and his Registrar operate at the Albury Base Hospital and Wodonga Hospital

Procedures in a Public Hospital are generally covered by Medicare, for Australian citizens and most permanent residents, where you elect to be treated as a public patient.
A combination of Medicare, Private Health insurance and personal payments covers the cost of treatment as a private patient in a public hospital.
